PMHI Scholarship Program

Our Commitment

The Perinatal Mental Health Institute is committed to making high-quality perinatal mental health training accessible to the professionals who need it most. Our Scholarship Program exists to remove two of the most common barriers to training: the financial impact of currency and income disparities across countries, and the limited funding available to professionals who dedicate their work to underserved, high-risk, or minority perinatal populations.

Eligibility

To be considered for a PMHI Scholarship, applicants must meet both of the following criteria:

Economic Parity — You are based in a country where the cost of PMHI training represents a significant barrier relative to local income or purchasing power.

Underserved Populations — A substantial part of your clinical or professional work involves supporting underserved, high-risk, or minority perinatal populations (for example: refugee and asylum-seeker communities, low-income or rural communities, LGBTQ+ parents, adolescent parents, or communities with limited access to perinatal mental health care).

Scholarships are awarded to applicants who demonstrate both genuine financial need and meaningful impact on underserved populations through their work.

Which Trainings Are Included

The Scholarship Program currently applies to:

- Advanced Perinatal Mental Health Specialist Training

- Introduction to Perinatal Mental Health

Scholarships for other PMHI programs (including the Community Hub, specialist half-day trainings, and webinars) are not currently included in this scholarship structure but will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out to us directly to discuss your circumstances.

How Scholarship Amounts Are Calculated

PMHI uses a tiered scholarship structure based on internationally recognised country income classifications, ensuring the size of the award reflects the real financial barrier faced by each applicant:

Lower-middle-income countries 50% reduction in training cost

Low-income countries 75% reduction in training cost

Your country of practice, together with your application, determines which tier applies. This ensures the scholarship is proportionate and consistent across applicants.

How to Apply

The PMHI Scholarship Program operates on a rolling application basis — you may apply at any time, ahead of any upcoming Advanced or Introduction course. However, scholarship spots for a given course intake are determined 4 weeks prior to that course's start date, so we encourage early applications to ensure they are considered in time for your preferred intake.

Review Process

All scholarship applications are reviewed by the PMHI board. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application no later than 4 weeks before the start date of the relevant course.

If Your Application Is Not Successful

We receive more applications than we are able to fund in any given intake. If your application is not successful, you are welcome to apply again for a future course intake — an unsuccessful application does not affect your eligibility for future consideration.

Funding

The PMHI Scholarship Program is fully funded by PMHI. All scholarships represent a cost absorbed by the Institute as part of our commitment to accessible, equitable perinatal mental health education.

Who is the PMHI for?

The goal of PMHI is to include all professionals working with the perinatal population. We are passionate about our mission to support women, couples and families through the perinatal period by educating and supporting the providers that care for them! This includes Psychologists, Psychotherapists, GPs, Consultants, OB Doctors and RNs, Midwives, Doulas, Nutritionists, Coaches and any other professional provider who cares for women and couples in the perinatal period.

Tell me about the Advanced Perinatal Mental Health Training!

This is our fundamental in depth training for perinatal providers who really want to get it! This 10 Month course will cover the impact of Matrescence, Fertility Challenges, Grief and Loss, Perinatal Anxiety, Perinatal Depression, Mania and Psychosis, Birth Trauma, NICU Stays, Feeding Challenges, Medication Management and Relationship challenges on mental health. Will I get CPD Credits?

Yes! Our Advanced Perinatal Mental Health Specialist Training and Introduction to Perinatal Mental Health courses have been approved by the CPD Standards Office for Internationally Recognised CPD credits.
